Expedition itinerary

We will meet Friday morning at 11am at a predetermined location sent to you via email the week of your trip. There will be a quick orientation and then we will all ride out to the trail head together. Once there we will hike to camp. Once in camp we will set up and have dinner.

Saturday we will get up and have breakfast. After breakfast we will hike to a location where we will have discussions about what a “Mindfulness Based Recovery” practice looks like. This session is completely voluntary, you are not forced to attend. If you’d rather, you are welcome to venture out on your own, try your hand at some fishing, or rest in camp. This session takes a couple of hours, and is in a beautiful spot with a wonderful view. After the session everyone can do what they would like. We encourage some time by yourself for reflection, but once again, you can do what you like.

Sunday morning we will get up, have breakfast, and enjoy one another’s fellowship. Once we are ready we will pack up camp, hike back to the trail head, and have you back at your vehicle early afternoon.

The agenda of an AIR trip is to not have an agenda. This is your recovery journey. We are simply offering a space in wilderness where you can work on your journey in a group of your peers.

9 - 9:45am Intention setting, the nervous system and addiction, and the importance of integration

10-10:45 Asanas. Body scan, yoga poses, and settling “in the body”

11-11:45 Holotropic breathing and the autonomic nervous system

12-12:45 Meditation. Creating space between thoughts

1-1:45 Cold water immersion. This optional practice is about using the cold to manage the autonomic nervous system.

A few things to note.

  1. The cold water immersion is optional. If you want to do it you can, if you do not please do not feel pressured. If you do elect to do it bring some clothes for that (shorts and t shirt, bathing suit etc. . .) and a towel.

  2. There will be healthy snacks and water provided.

  3. I would suggest if you eat breakfast eat early and then we will put snacks out after session 2. It is best to not eat before the asanas

  4. Bring a notebook and pen

  5. If you have a yoga mat please bring it, if not there are a few at the center you can use.

  6. For meditation bring a cushion. A meditation cushion is great, but a big ol pillow you can sit on works too. You can also lay down to meditate if you’d like, but there will be a significant amount of sitting too.

  7. Comfy clothes are a must. Work out clothes, or just simply loose comfy clothes are fine.
